Frequently asked questions
What does Auto (PNG ⇄ JPEG) actually do?+
It reproduces the old dedicated precision converter: every JPEG in your batch becomes a PNG, and everything else becomes a JPEG, always at the source file's exact original pixel dimensions. Resize settings don't apply in this mode, by design — it's meant for lossless-dimension format flips, not resizing.
Can I convert to SVG from a raster image like PNG or JPEG?+
Yes — choosing SVG wraps your raster image inside a minimal SVG document as an embedded image. This is the standard way to make a raster image usable anywhere a vector SVG file is expected; it doesn't trace or vectorize the artwork itself.
Does resizing distort my images?+
No — every resize preset and custom dimension preserves the original aspect ratio. You can cap the width, height, or both, but images are never stretched.
What's the difference between the compression presets and the quality slider?+
The presets (Lossless, Balanced, Maximum Compression) just set the quality slider to a sensible starting value — dragging the slider afterward gives you fine control between those presets.
Can different files in the same batch use different formats?+
Yes — use the per-file settings icon (it looks like a small gear) on any file to override just that file's target format, while the rest of the batch still uses the global format setting.
Why did one of my files fail to convert?+
Usually because the target format isn't supported for encoding by your specific browser (rare, but possible for AVIF on older browsers) or the source file is corrupted. The error message next to that file explains what went wrong.
